Them and Us tells three stories from middle school students in rural China, exlporing themes of youth mental health, school bullying and underage labour.

Anthropological Field Research
Examined critical issues surrounding the survival and development of children in China amidst rapid economic growth and policy inadequacies. A significant number of rural laborers are compelled to migrate to urban areas, resulting in a growing population of left-behind children each year, who are effectively becoming 'institutional orphans'.

Research period: 2021.03 - 04
Location: Lianshan Middle School, Hezhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.
